Officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Division, fired tear gas to disperse protesters at the Lekki toll gate where protesters and civilians alike are commemorating the 2nd anniversary of the #EndSARS protests of October 20, 2020.
Protesters are currently fleeing the scene of the #EndSARS memorial procession. Gunshots were also reportedly fired by the policemen present at the scene, while a journalist who works for Arise TV was also allegedly harassed.
Videos emerging from the scene show protesters running helter-skelter for safety and there are photos of several arrests made at the scene of the incident.
The protester had come out on Thursday morning led by popular musician, Falz and actor, Mr. Macaroni to stage a peaceful walk at the Lekki tollgate in commemoration of the shooting that took place therein two years ago.
The commemorative walk was gathered to be peaceful until police stormed the scene to fire teargas at the people to disperse them from the scene.
