Nigeria’s renowned music legend, Onyeka Onwenu, affectionately known as the “Elegant Stallion,” has been laid to rest in Lagos.
Onyeka Onwenu passed away on July 30, 2024, at Reddington Hospital, Ikeja, after collapsing at an event honoring Dr. Stella Okoli, Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceuticals. She was 72.
A funeral service was held at the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, Lagos, followed by a private burial at a vault in Ikoyi on Friday
Distinguished guests in attendance included former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and Abia State Governor Alex Otti.
Onyeka Onwenu was a multifaceted talent, excelling as a musician with numerous hits, as well as a broadcaster, actress, politician, and activist.
She is survived by her two sons, who will continue to cherish her enduring legacy.
