Governor Soludo Honoured with Vanguard Governor of the Year Award for Good Governance

Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has added to his growing accolades, this time, the Vanguard Newspaper Governor of the Year Award for good governance.

The award was presented to Soludo by the veteran journalist and former governor of Ogun state, Chief Segun Osoba, at an elaborate and well-attended event held at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre, Lagos, on Friday, 11th April 2025.

The prestigious event, organized by Vanguard Newspaper, one of the country’s leading newspapers, recognizes eminent Nigerians across various sectors for their exceptional contributions to national development and excellence in service.

The award was conferred on Governor Soludo for his incredible performance in governance, and infrastructural and transformational drive in making Anambra a destination where the citizens live, relax, and enjoy.

At the event, the Editor of Vanguard Newspapers, Mr. Eze Anaba, commended Governor Soludo for his transformation work in infrastructural development, education, health, where he has earned regional and national recognition, security reforms, human capital development, and the digitisation of governance systems.

He stated, “Our awardees have set exemplary standards through their dedication, creativity, and passion.”

Indeed, the Vanguard award adds to its list of accolades, as Soludo’s credible leadership has also earned him The Sun Newspaper’s ‘Governor of the Year 2024’ for his laudable achievements, and the Independent Newspaper’s ‘Governor of the Year 2024’ Award for his urban renewal initiatives.

Recently, Soludo emerged as the best-performing governor in primary healthcare delivery in Nigeria in 2024, the best in the Southeast region, and the best overall nationally. The award was presented to him by the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Aliko Dangote Foundation, the Federal Ministry of Health, and the United Nations Children and Education Fund (UNICEF).

Governor Soludo’s drive for innovation led to the admirable performance of Anambra State’s Cultural Troupe, which emerged as the “Most Creative Cultural Troupe in Nigeria” at the National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST) in Abuja, from November 22nd to 30th, 2024.

He was also bequeathed with the Leadership Excellence Award by the Catholic Laity Council of Awka Diocese in recognition of his outstanding achievements.
