In continuation of his town hall meeting with Ndi Anambra, Governor Charles Soludo will visit the United Kingdom on Monday, 21st April 2025, to meet with the state’s indigenes and present his administration’s scorecard, signaling the numerous achievements attained within the three years in office.
The UK meeting, which will be held at the Saray Banqueting Suite, 54 The Market Square, London, N9 0TZ, UK, by 5 pm, follows the successful sessions with Ndi Anambra communities in Lagos and Abuja, where prominent indigenes of the state endorsed him for a second term in the forthcoming November gubernatorial election.
Soludo also received commendation in infrastructural development which has led to the construction of road projects connecting different parts of the state, and urban regeneration plans where slums have been transformed; in education, where free education has been granted to students and schools built, with more employment of teachers, and in health, where general hospitals have been built, hospitals renovated, free healthcare services for pregnant women, and also where he has earned regional and national recognition for his laudable performance.
Other areas include security reforms, with the signing into Law of the Anambra Homeland Security Law that birthed the state security system, Agunechemba to complement the existing security network, and the formation of Operation Udo Ga-Achi forces with modern technology gadgets to combat crime, with peace restored to the state; in human capital development with the various innovation scheme for youths, and the digitisation of the governance systems.
At the Lagos and Abuja meetings, Soludo urged the people to invest in the state to boost economic activities and thereby enhance its growth, affirming that “Anambra is rising, and together we can build it to rise higher. All I see is what has not been done, and I promise the people of Anambra that I will do more.”
The governor, who was recently honoured with the Vanguard Newspaper Governor of the Year Award for good governance on 11th April 2025, also clinched The Sun Newspaper ‘Governor of the Year 2024’ for his laudable achievements, and the Independent Newspaper ‘Governor of the Year 2024’ Award for his urban renewal initiatives.
Soludo also emerged as the best-performing governor in primary healthcare delivery in Nigeria in 2024, the best in the Southeast region, and the best overall nationally. The award was presented to him by the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Aliko Dangote Foundation, the Federal Ministry of Health, and the United Nations Children and Education Fund (UNICEF), among other laurels.
