FULL LIST - 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards Winners

Nollywood films Jagun Jagun, Mai Martaba, and The Weekend won several awards at the 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).

The 20th edition of the awards, hosted by veteran Nollywood actor Segun Arinze and Ghanaian TV host and actress Joselyn Dumas, took place on Saturday, November 2, at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos State.

Filmmaker and writer Dorothee Wenner chaired the 12-member jury committee for the awards.

The Daniel Oriahi-directed family drama ‘The Weekend’ clinched the award for the Best Film Award category for Nigeria and Africa.

Nollywood actor, Femi Adebayo, emerged as the Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his historical thriller, ‘Jagun Jagun’.

Jagun Jagun which attracted seven nominations also clinched the Achievement Award in visual effects and make-up.

Mai Martaba clinched the award for the best in costume design. The film is directed by Prince Daniel Aboki and explores themes of power, love, greed, and betrayal in an ancient African kingdom, presenting a transformative tale that challenges conventions and celebrates female leadership.
