US President Joe Biden has on Thursday revealed that he plans to run for reelection in 2024. The POTUS position comes despite speculation he might step aside to make way for a younger contender, as he currently holds the position of being the oldest person to lead in the country’s history.

Biden is 78 and already the oldest president to hold office. He would be 82 at the start of a second term.

During the first formal press conference of his presidency, Biden told reporters, “My plan is to run for reelection, that’s my expectation.”

When pressed, he added that he is “a great respecter of fate” and does not make firm plans so far in advance, but that if he does run in 2024 he “would fully expect” that Vice President Kamala Harris will be on the ticket, stating, “she’s doing a great job. She’s a great partner.”

Biden then was asked at the first news conference of his presidency whether he thought he could face a rematch against Donald Trump.

The US President scoffed at the question and said; “Oh, I don’t even think about it, I have no idea.”

It would be recalled that United States former Vice President Mike Pence on January 7 certified Electoral College vote declaring Joe Biden as the next President of the country, ending Donald Trump’s desperate campaign to overturn the election.

The whole number of electors appointed to vote for President of the US is 538, of which a majority is 270.

From this, Joe Biden, of the state of Delaware received 306 votes while Donald Trump of the state of Florida received 232 votes.
