Eminem, Lionel Richie, Others inducted into Rock n Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2022

Eminem, in his first year of eligibility, is among the list of artists to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for its class of 2022.

As revealed through the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame website, Em is being inducted alongside Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Eurythmics, Duran Duran, Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, and Carly Simon in the performer category. The Musical Excellence Award, meanwhile, will go to Judas Priest and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis.

“This diverse group of inductees each had a profound impact on the sound of youth culture and helped change the course of rock & roll,” said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. “Their music moved generations and influenced so many artists that followed.”

When the fan ballot for the class of 2022 closed earlier this month, Eminem finished second overall with 685,000 votes, while English new wave band Duran Duran ranked No. 1 with 934,880 votes. Acts that were nominated but will not be inducted include Beck, A Tribe Called Quest, Rage Against the Machine, Dionne Warwick, Kate Bush, and Devo among others.

Following the announcement of the nominations, Dolly Parton said she would “respectfully bow out” of consideration because she didn’t feel “that I have earned that right.” However, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation confirmed she would still be included among the nominees, and the country star later said she’d accept the honor “gracefully.”

The 2022 induction ceremony is set to take place on Saturday, Nov. 5 in Los Angeles at the Microsoft Theater. It will also be broadcast on SiriusXM’s Volume channel, and air on HBO/HBO Max at a later date.
